Zubko: Ukrainian Gov encourages development of alternative energy at local level
03.09.2015 15:04 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Local authorities will have enough power to determine tariffs for heat produced with use of alternative or renewable energy sources, Government Portal reports quoting the Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine Hennadiy Zubko as speaking today about a draft law elaborated by the Ministry of Regional Development.
«From now on it is possible to provide heating not just to a separate building or institution using alternative energy sources, but to transfer boilers to use non-traditional or renewable sources of energy,» the official explained.
«Real decentralization means the transfer of maximum power to the local authorities. This decision was taken long ago, the more so it is fixed in the Coalition agreement,» he said.
As to the report, Zubko said now the share of renewables in the Ukrainian overall energy balance makes up 3.45%. The program of reforms of the Gov will allow growing it up to 30% by 2030.
«Today we are to lay the basis for tomorrows energy independence of Ukraine. With this purpose we are ready to overcome antagonism of those who stands against letting control over regulatory and budgetary „taps“ to slide,» the Vice Prime Minister added.
As to the report, Zubko told the bill would soon be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada.
