Daniel Dickinson has more details.
Reportedly, at least 13 people in total were killed, including five UN workers, in a hostage siege at a hotel in the central Malian town of Sévaré.
The siege ended after government troops reportedly stormed the building early on Sat.
As to the report, there was no immediate claim of responsibility, although Islamic militants have been responsible for a wave of attacks across the West African country.
The security situation there remains fragile, despite a peace agreement amongst the warring parties.
As to the report, the UN Secretary-General called upon the people of Mali and the parties to the agreement to remain united in their pursuit of what he called «a just and sustainable peace.»
