MERS virus is not a global emergency, WHO says
17.06.2015 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
A killer virus that has claimed 19 lives in Asia could yet infect more people, but does not constitute a global emergency, UN Radio says referring to the WHO (UN World Health Organization) Emergency Committee experts’ report on Wed.
It is to be admitted, the WHO Emergency Committee is dealing with the MERS corona virus outbreak in South Korea and, to a much lesser extent, in China.
Dr. Keiji Fukuda, who heads the Committee, says theres no evidence to suggest that the virus spreads as easily as other common bugs like the flu.
But, at same time, Dr. Fukuda admits that its «absolutely critical» now to maintain efforts to limit transmission.
