05.06.2015 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The clock is ticking faster and faster towards a new global climate agreement expected to be adopted in December, UN Radio says referring to Janos Pasztor, the UN Assistant Secretary-General on Climate Change, report made on Thurs
at the UN Headquarters’ briefing in New York on the latest efforts by the international community to promote climate action.
Janos Pasztor told about discussions between nations less than 200 days away from what is expected to be a defining moment for the planets future.
Mr. Pasztor also reiterated the findings of the latest intergovernmental panel on climate change.
«Climate action now can limit climate change but if we wait it will be increasingly difficult and more expensive. And of course the Secretary-General is committed to promoting global action that will not only address climate change but also promote economic growth, and greater opportunities of health, education and employment,» Mr. Pasztor said.
He also added that if no action is taken, global temperatures will continue to rise much above the 2 degree Celsius limit set by the international community.
