Yatseniuk: All tariffs that are fixed by NCSEPUR should be audited by four largest international companies
15.05.2015 16:27 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
"All tariffs that have been fixed by the NCSEPUR (National Commission for State Energy and Public Utilities Regulation) - I emphasize, fixed not by the Government, but by an independent body - should be audited by the four largest international companies," Government Portal says quoting the Ukrainian
Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk as speaking within An Hour of Questions to the Government in the Verkhovna Rada today.
While speaking in the VR, Yatseniuk told that he had held a meeting yesterday with the National Commission for State Energy and Public Utilities Regulation, NJSC «Naftogaz Ukraine» and «Ukrgazvydobuvannya».
The PM has also stressed that he had been addressing the NCSEPUR for six months already to assure country-wide installation of metering devices: «The body that introduces the mechanism of the households’ connection to the household utilities, fixes tariffs and defines the rules at the energy market - it is NOT the Cabinet of Ministers. It is an independent body: the National Commission for State Energy and Public Utilities Regulation.»
Yatseniuk stressed that this situation has resulted in the fact that the Ukrainian citizens now pay some additional money for connection (incl. to private power companies). In addition, he said, now Ukraine is one of the worst countries in the world in what concerns the standards of the connection to the household utilities.
«It just kills our ranking of doing business,» Yatseniuk admitted.
Besides, Yatseniuk also reminded that he had charged the Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Coal Industry with the task of introducing of new rules of connection, because the current rules «have only one purpose
to assure the monopoly at the regional power providers, the monopoly which takes money out of business and people, and destroys Ukrainian prospects.»
Yatseniuk also noted that the installation of metering devices is a direct obligation of each energy company.
Besides, he also appealed to the Parliament members to adopt a law on the National Commission for State Energy and Public Utilities Regulation within the next week.
«You are to establish the body which is to be independent from politicians, the Government, the President and the Parliament, the body which will be transparent, honest, professional and efficient to fix tariffs and which will take responsibility for these tariffs’ formation.»
