UN preparing to raise major relief effort in Nepal

A major relief effort in Nepal is being prepared by the United Nations, as reports of the devastation caused by an earthquake that struck the Kathmandu Valley are still incoming, UN Radio says referring to UN report.
As to the report, the country hospitals area are overcrowded and running short of emergency supplies.
In a statement on Apr 25, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said thoughts are with the people of Nepal and neighbouring countries.
It is to be reminded, as of Apr 25, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, with epicenter in Lamjung District, north-west of the capital Kathmandu.
Initial estimates from the Nepal government indicated there were over 1000 people killed, but this number keeps growing.
There has reportedly also been significant damage to Nepals cultural heritage.
