While speaking at the meeting of the National Tripartite Social and Economic Council on Thurs, Apr 16,
the Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk proposed to establish the Council of producers and exporters to promote Ukrainian goods on the domestic and foreign markets, Government Portal reports.
As to the report, Yatseniuk stressed the need to implement the agreement on free trade with the European Union and the search for new export markets for Ukrainian producers.
«In fact, we will never have those trade relations with Russia that we had ten years ago. We need to look for new markets,» he emphasized.
He reminded that the Cabinet had appointed a Ukraine’s trade representative «who must advocate interests of employers and Ukrainian enterprises both domestically and abroad.»
The Prime Minister informed that he would offer to the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine to set up a Council of manufacturers. He reminded that Ukraine had once had a council of importers, and now «we must create the Council of manufacturers and exporters»: «To make a trade representative and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade those triggers that will promote Ukrainian goods on the domestic and foreign markets.»
Reportedly, Yatseniuk is certain that the lack of credit resources is a key issue. He stressed that the Government is actively working with the National Bank to stabilize the banking sector.
«As soon as there is a ceasefire, once people return their deposits back. Once people return deposits interest on deposits both in local currency and in dollars starts falling. Once the rate falls there is a resource and an opportunity for the banking sector to lend,» he said.
Another source to credit the economy, in addition to the restoring confidence in the banking sector is the attracting of foreign investors, Yatseniuk admitted.
