Ukrainian President launched Public broadcasting
07.04.2015 14:19 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has taken part in presentation of Public broadcasting and signed the Law on Public television and radio broadcasting, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
«This is the law awaited by Ukraine for 23 years. The authorities either lacked will, or were unwilling to deal with that issue, because the authorities always wanted to control media space and considered that establishing public television would be similar to releasing the genie out of the bottle. This is the price, the government must pay for democracy,» the President stated.
The President has noted that MPs had allowed opening the new page of freedom of speech in Ukraine by voting for this law. «Ive been always confident that public television should exist,» Poroshenko said.
