Belarus’ Customs testing streamlined transit procedures
29.01.2015 17:13 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The Belarusian State Customs Committee in association with the customs services provider RUP Beltamozhservis has started an experiment to test merchandise transportation between the border checkpoint Kozlovichi and the logistics hub Brest Beltamozhservis 2 without using customs transit procedures, Belarus Radio reports.
As to the report, the new merchandise transportation scheme is a unique product developed by the State Customs Committee. It is based on a brand new technology for the customs processing of cargoes at the border. The new technology will reduce the time vehicles spend at the border, thus increasing the throughput capacity of the border checkpoint.
Reportedly, financial costs of the foreign forwarding agency will be greatly reduced because the agency will not have to get additional permits. After unloading its cargoes at the terminal, the vehicle can go back to the country of origin. The cargoes will be delivered by forwarding agencies of Customs Union member states. The Customs Union forwarding agencies will not have to leave the country in order to pick up the cargoes.
