Ukraine and Canada to intensify free trade negotiations

Ukraine and Canada are intensifying negotiations regarding the signing of the FTA, Government Portal says referring to the reports made by the .
Canadian Minister of International Trade Ed Fast and the Ukrainian Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavicius at the briefing following the bilateral meeting on Jan 26.
While speaking at the briefing, Abromavicius noted that the group of experts is actively working on the discussion of further development of relations between the two countries that had started in Davos.
«The working group will continue to intensively discuss this treaty in videoconference mode, there are still some sensitive points relating the document, but our strong desire from both sides to sign the agreement will give a positive result,» the Ukrainian Minister said.
At the same time, the Canadian Minister of International Trade Ed Fast emphasized that Canada will continue to support Ukraine and expressed hope that the agreement will contribute to strengthen the country’s economy and continue the path towards a better future.
«The purpose of these negotiations is to support Ukraine. I announced today that Canada would provide Ukraine with additional US52 million for technical needs, the deployment and strengthening of her capacity and economic development. In addition, these investments are to encourage SMEs that produce dairy products, as well as to strengthen the companies engaged in the storage of grain,» Ed Fast said.
