Ministry of Agrarian Policy estimates 35% winter grains sown areas as unsatisfactory

As Ivan Demchak, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy, reported during «hot line» talks with journalists, Ministry of Agrarian Policy considers winter grains condition is unsatisfactory at 35% total sown areas (65% good/satisfactory).
As to Demchak, agrarians will have to resow perished winter grains at 690,000 ha.
As earlier reported, Vice-Premier Yuriy Melnyk considers Ukrainian Hydrometeorology Center data on 30% winter grains sown areas destruction/resowing aren’t true.
Ministry of Agrarian Policy experts had estimated mid Mar condition of winter wheat (Ukrainian main winter grain) sown at 1,357.900 ha (26.7% of total 5,138.000 ha areas sown with winter wheat for 2006 crop) as weak/rare; condition of 1,983.400 ha (39% total) was considered satisfactory, while condition of 1,387.300 ha (27.3% total) was estimated good.
As to Ministry of Agrarian Policy, wheat had sprouted at 5,080.000 ha.
2006 crop sown areas total 6,193.800 ha (incl. sown for grain 6,059.100 ha).
