Ministry of Agrarian Policy expects 2006 winter wheat crop will reach 13-14 mn MT

As Ivan Demchak, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy, reported during «hot line» talks with journalists, Ministry of Agrarian Policy
anticipates this year winter wheat crop will total 1314 mn MT.
As to Demchak, wheat crop will depend on agrarians springtime field works quality/weather conditions.
As earlier reported, Ministry of Agrarian Policy had forecasted 2006 wheat crop would fall to 13 mn MT, down 5.7 mn MT (- 30%) against 2005, explaining wheat production decline with winter wheat sown areas partial destruction.
2005 wheat crop had grown to 18.699 mn MT (in terms of weight after additional processing), up 6.7% against 2004.
2005 wheat average yield equaled to 28,5 metric centners/ha (down against 31,7 metric centners/ha in 2004); within 2005 agrarians have harvested wheat at 6,571.000 ha (up as of 5,533.700 ha in 2004).
2005 winter wheat crop totaled 17.683 mn MT (spring wheat 1.016 mn MT).
2005 grain crop totaled 38.015 mn MT, down against 41.808 mn MT in 2004.
