Ukrainian PM: 1 million civil servants to be screened under "lustration" fighting corruption

1 million civil servants will be screened under the so-called lustration law to fight corruption, NRCU reports referring to the Ukrainian Prime Minister Artseniy Yatseniuk.
As to the RUI earlier report, the government passed a new law, allowing the removal of government officials from their posts to root out corrupt practices hanging over from the previous ousted administration. All those who worked under ousted President Viktor Yanukovych and also former senior Communist and KGB members will be affected. «About one million civil servants of different kinds will come under this law, including the whole cabinet of ministers, the interior ministry, the intelligence services, the prosecutors office,» Yatseniuk said in a televised cabinet meeting.
