Naftogaz to require 10-10.2 bcm of gas for heating season
01.07.2014 17:12 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
National joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy will require around 1010.2 billion cubic meters of gas for the next heating season, NRCU reports referring to the Head of the Department for Control over Payments for gas consumed at the holding Vladyslav Yakovlev.
«We require 1010.2 billion cubic meters of gas to get through the heating season properly. This is enough for Ukraine to be with heating,» he said at a press conference at Kyivenergo in Kyiv on Tuesday. As reported, Ukraine and the European Union shared a common position in the trilateral gas talks with Russia on the price and on debt repayment for the supplied gas. The proposed interim price for gas to be shipped to Ukraine in the summer, when gas is being intensively pumped into underground storage facilities, was $300 per 1,000 cubic meters, and in the winter heating season $385 per 1,000 cubic meters. The European Commission-proposed package agreement also included Naftogaz’s one-time payment to Gazprom, amounting to $1 billion. The remaining debt could be repaid in equal tranches by the end of the year, with 6% annual interest on each tranche. A decision on the final price for Ukraine is to be made in an arbitration procedure in Stockholm. Russia on June 16 stopped gas supplies to Ukraine. The sides filed counterclaims to the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce on the same day. Naftogaz Ukrainy is demanding that a fair price be set for the gas that Gazprom supplies to Ukraine. Ukraine also demanded that $6 billion in overcharges for the gas which Gazprom has been exporting to Naftogaz since 2010, be repaid. Gazprom is demanding the payment of $4.5 million in debts for gas already delivered.
