18.03.2014 11:52 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The situation in Crimea will not affect transport links between the mainland and the peninsula of Ukraine, Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Maksym Burbak stated on March 17, during a briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Government Portal reports.
"Crimea is an integral part of Ukraine and we provide by and large transport links with our population inhabiting in the Autonomy. «People from Crimea can get to any part of Ukraine, although with some forced delays,» Maksym Burbaksaid.
According to the Minister the airport of Crimea’s central city, Simferopol, is now closed to flights from Kiev and other Ukrainian cities, but trains are running as usual. Certain delays may occur inside Crimea, where armed so-called self-defence groups are conducting passenger checks. Motor transport is also available, although there are checkpoints on the highways.
Maksym Burbak also noted that nationalization of any transport object managed by the Ministry of Infrastructure is impossible. At any attempts of this nature the Ministry of Infrastructure responds by appealing to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine for the legal assessment.
