Ukrainian President: Next year must become year of further qualitative changes in social sphere

Next year must become the year of further qualitative changes in the level of income and financial security of citizens, particularly the most vulnerable groups of people - pensioners, families with many children, orphans. It was stated by the Ukrainian President yesrterday at the meeting of the Council of Regions, President Viktor Yanukovych Press Office reports.
«We will pay particular attention to the efficient social policy,» the Head of State said adding that he would personally control governmental social policy and the fulfillment of requirements by the Ministry of Social Policy.
Viktor Yanukovych noted that the state support to poor citizens had been significantly increased in 2013. Particularly, state unemployment benefits have been increased by 57%.
«Minimum wage has been increased by 80% in the last 4 years. In 2009, average salary was 1906 UAH; in 2013 it is 3181 UAH,» the President emphasized.
Also, the Head of State noted that in 2013, minimum pensions equaled the living wage. According to him, in 2009 minimum pension was 573 UAH and now it is 949 UAH.
«Is it a lot? No it is not but one must work hard to increase these figures. We know that pensions derive from the salary. If we increase wages the pension will also grow,» Viktor Yanukovych said.
