Hetman Sahaidachny frigate ends fifth patrol in Gulf of Aden

The Hetman Sahaidachny, a Ukrainian Navy frigate, has completed the fifth patrol in the Gulf of Aden, which began on December 11, and entered the port of Djibouti, the press center of the command of the Ukrainian fleet has reported, ForUm reports referring to Interfax-Ukraine.
The frigate patrolled the area along the coast of Somalia. Pilots of a Ka-27 PS helicopter performed aerial reconnaissance of the surface situation and practiced detecting small targets in certain areas of patrol.
The ship’s crew made a number of friendly approaches to fishermen in order to obtain evidence regarding the detection of pirate activity in the Gulf of Aden.
The crew also performed practical artillery fire and conducted a series of naval exercises.
During the patrol the frigate was visited by Ocean Shield Task Force Commander, Rear Admiral Eugenio Diaz Del Rio and Atalanta Task Force Commander, French Navy Rear Admiral Herve Blejean.
