Azarov: Ukraine has actually fulfilled all obligations to PACE

Ukraine has fulfilled in fact all obligations to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. The Prime Minister Mykola Azarov declared that during his meeting with co-rapporteurs of PACE Monitoring Committee for Ukraine Mailis Reps and Marietta De Purbe-Lundin, to Government Portal reports.
«Our verbal agreement with the Council of Europe has been in fact fulfilled. There are certain questions concerning approval of the Law On the Public Prosecutor’s Office, but I hope the Parliament will approve it within nearest time. Our largest problem is not that we don’t prepare relevant draft laws, but that we have a peculiar opposition who prefer most construction of barricades in the center of Kyiv instead of work in the Parliament,» Azarov said.
The Prime Minister informed that there had taken place a by-election to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the results had shown the victory of four out of five parliamentary candidates, who didn’t represent the opposition. Besides, there took place elections to 95 local councils and representatives of the Regions Party won in 90 of them. «90 elections out of 95 local council elections have been won by the candidates from the Regions Party - here is the answer to the people who confirmed their support,» the Head of Government noted.
He added that experts of influential world credit rating agencies ascertained, after suspension of Association between Ukraine and the EU and signing of agreements with the RF a possible risk of default decreased and ranking of Ukraine improved.
During the meeting the parties also considered a wide circle of cooperation issues between Ukraine and PACE. Mykola Azarov answered the questions of the co-rapporteurs connected to the current political situation in Ukraine.
