President: Course on European standards is invariable for Ukraine

The President emphasized that Ukraine would continue its European integration course.
«We will go our own way, we will do everything for Ukraine to become economically stronger,» the Head of State said in the interview to Ukrainian TV journalists, President Viktor Yanukovych Press Office reports.
According to him, Ukraine has made a decision on the signature of the Agreement with the EU. At the same time, terms of the agreement are a principled question which should be settled to the benefit of Ukrainian people.
«For the country to be competitive. We will speak about the signature when we reach an agreement on normal terms, when we enter the level which is comfortable for us and which meets our interests. When will it be? Will it be soon or not so soon? The time will show. I would like it to be as soon as possible,» the President emphasized.
In the given context, Viktor Yanukovych stressed that not less than 20 billion EUR per year were necessary for Ukrainian economy to switch to the European standards. «Overall, about 160 billion EUR are necessary until 2017,» he said.
«The signature of the Agreement is not an accession to the EU. Ukraine will not be appended to European funds. We will not be there,» the Head of State noted.
He emphasized that Ukraine had been holding negotiations at different levels with various structures of the EU in trade-economic and energy issues.
«All our negotiations were designed to come in good shape. I mean, Ukraine must first of all have a sufficient economic resource for the implementation of the given agreement,» Viktor Yanukovych noted.
