Putin supports transforming BRICS into full fledged cooperation mechanism

Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to transform BRICS into a full-fledged cooperation mechanism. This is essential to search for solving key issues in world politics, the Russian President said in an interview with ITAR-TASS ahead of the BRICS summit, Voice of Russia reports.
Russia, China, India, Brazil and South Africa will start a two-day summit in the South African city of Durban on the 26th of March.
Putin said that BRICS countries traditionally voice similar approaches towards urgent international issues. The five countries reject policy of putting pressure and infringement on the sovereignty of other countries.
Putin described BRICS as a key element in the multi-polar world and said that the five countries insist on the creation of a balanced and fair system in international economic relations.
Putin emphasized that Russia would suggest its partners gradually transforming BRICS from a dialogue forum that coordinates the positions of countries on a restricted number of issues into a full-fledged mechanism of strategic cooperation that should help to find joint solutions to key issues in world politics.
The Russian President believes that at present, BRICS is strengthening its fight against drug trafficking, terrorist threats and military aspects in the cyberspace.
