Russian farmers to receive per-hectare subsidies
06.02.2013 09:28 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
While speaking on Tuesday at a government meeting focused on grain market issues, RF Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Russia should continue to support domestic agricultural producers despite having joined the World Trade Organization, Voice of Russia reports referring to Interfax.
As it entered the WTO, Russia undertook certain commitments, for example, to stop direct government support to domestic farmers, he said.
As of this year, other support mechanisms will be used, including subsidies per a hectare of cultivated crop land with about 15 billion rubles earmarked for this program, the premier said.
