Poroshenko: Ukraine, Moldova agreed to restore economic cooperation

13.02.2017 16:27 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has told that within his today negotiations with Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip and between the Ukrainian and Moldovan delegations, the parties reached an agreement to restore economic cooperation between the two countries, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports. As to the report, while speaking within the press conference, Poroshenko has noted that a trend of previous years was broken within 2016 and the trade turnover between the countries was ensured. «And we agreed on further steps that eliminate any obstacles in this important direction,» he said. «It particularly went about gradual restoration of our economic cooperation. A regular session of the Intergovernmental Ukraine-Moldova Commission on trade-economic cooperation planned for May-Jun will be devoted to that issue,» he added noting that corresponding instructions had already been given to the co-heads of this Commission. «I am confident that following the results of this meeting we will receive concrete proposals on the solution of the issues still pending on the Ukraine-Moldova agenda,» Poroshenko said. In his turn, the Prime Minister of Moldova informed that the parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral agenda and found many solutions that must be implemented already this year. As to him, a special topic of negotiations was the environmental issue of the Dniester water basin and the rational use of water resources for the benefit of both countries. «Dniester is a cross-border river and it plays an important role in providing drinking water for Chișinău and certain Ukrainian cities, particularly Odesa,» Filip noted.
