Ukrainian President presented awards to women: everything bright in our life is from you

09.03.2015 09:17 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — The Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko presented awards to women who defend freedom and independence of Ukraine, particularly to volunteers, medics, rescuers and law enforcers, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports. «It is not a coincidence that the word Homeland is of feminine gender. That’s why you feel it much better than us, men. When the fate of Ukraine is decided, our women defend freedom and independence of the state, rescue lives of our warriors. You are not only our guardians, but also our heroines!» the Head of State noted. As to the report, Poroshenko emphasized that women are the foothold of men and even though the holiday of March 8 had been invented in the Soviet Union, it had lost political features. «Everything bright in our life — spring, happiness, joy, love, all achievements of Ukrainian men — is from you, women. I can say this for sure, for half of my achievements is due to my wife Maryna,» the President said. Reportedly, the Head of State also underlined the important role of women and their participation in the protection of Ukraine. The President noted that military units where women are present, have much better discipline and efficiency, militaries hold defense better and go into offensive braver. As to the report, the Head of State has thanked the Ukrainian women for assistance to the injured militaries and volunteerism. «Thanks to all of you for bearing the heavy burden of war together with men,» he added. Reportedly, Poroshenko wished them peace, love, harmony and welfare. The word «peace» has a special meaning for Ukrainians now. «We will overcome everything, we will do everything and we will succeed. The only thing we need is peace,» he emphasized. At the same time, the President added that unfortunately Ukraine missed one Ukrainian woman at the moment — Nadiya Savchenko. Reportedly, Poroshenko emphasized that Ukrainian pilot broke the stereotype about the weakness of female gender. «You can see what the enemy received in response — they will break their teeth trying to bite our Nadiya,» he said. The President also emphasized that he would do everything for Nadiya Savchenko to be liberated.
