Ukrainian dairy market

Within reporting week Ukrainian domestic/export dairy products’ markets were dominated mainly by a sideward trend. As of this week, Ukrainian domestic/export dairy products’ markets faced growing pressure from EU countries due to EUR/US$ exchange rate slackening. In meanwhile, within this week Ukrainian producers hoped for their dairy products’ sale rates (now remaining slack due to domestic/export markets’ poor demand) to be boosted by Forex market events — that is, by US$/UAH exchange rate strengthening (what will help producers to grow their export market sale rates). Thus, within this week US$ has already strengthened by over 3% against UAH — what, in turn, has supported prices on Ukrainian domestic/export dairy products’ markets. But will US$/UAH exchange rate continue strengthening? So far experts can’t answer this question.
Thus, within this week Ukrainian domestic market SMP prices have improved to UAH39,5–43 per kg (up 0.63% against previous week/up 2.01% as of last month similar); export market SMP prices, however, ranged within US$1,550–1,600 per MT (unchanged against previous week/down 0.16% against previous month similar). As earlier, within this week Ukrainian export market SMP sales remained hard to be made due to global market high competition and low export sale prices. However, at same time, Ukrainian export market SMP prices were supported by country domestic raw milk output seasonal maximum and UAH/US$ exchange rate slight slackening.
Within reporting week Ukrainian home market WMP prices ranged within UAH48–50 per kg (unchanged as of last week); external market WMP prices also were US$2,100–2,250 per MT (same as of last week). As earlier, within this week Ukrainian home WMP sales remained slack; however, Ukrainian external market WMP sakes were up against last year similar.
In meanwhile, this week Ukrainian domestic market block butter (72.5% fat, DSTU) prices have grown to UAH44–47 per kg (up 1.11% against previous week/up 8.49% as of previous month similar); export market block butter (72.5% fat, DSTU) prices ranged within US$2,350–2,600 per MT (same as of last week/up 4.76% as of last month similar). It is to be admitted, within this week prices’ boost on Ukrainian domestic/export butter markets was supported not only by previous factors (i.e. domestic raw milk output seasonal gradual decline and export market high sales), but also by UAH/US$ exchange rate slackening.
Within reporting week Ukrainian domestic market cheese prices ranged within UAH75–82 per kg (unchanged against previous week/up 3.63% as of last month similar); export market prices fluctuated within US$3,200–4,000 per MT (same as of last week/down 2.04% against previous month similar). As earlier, this week Ukrainian domestic market cheese demand was low; export market demand also remained weak owing to EU countries’ strong competition.
As of this week, Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ casein prices continued growing due to seasonality factor: thus, domestic market casein prices have boosted to UAH100–114 per kg (up 3.38% against previous week/up 2.88% as of last month similar); export market prices have improved to US$4,400–4,700 per MT (up 3.41% as of last week/up 5.20% as of last month similar). It is to be admitted, within this week Ukrainian export market purchasers’ activity has slightly strengthened — what has stimulated Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ prices growth.
Within reporting week Ukrainian domestic market demineralized whey prices fluctuated within UAH10,70–11,50 per kg (unchanged against previous week/down 4.31% as of last month similar); export market prices ranged within US$415–450 per MT (same as of last week/down 4.42% as of last week similar). Besides, within this week Ukrainian domestic market classic whey prices were UAH11,00–11,50 per kg (same as of last week/down 3.45% as of last month similar); export market prices equaled to US$400–405 per MT (same as of last week/down 0.46% against previous month similar).
As of this week, Ukrainian inner market GOST canned milk prices have slightly grown against previous week — to UAH11,8–14,2 per can (380 gr).
