Japan ready to intensify environmental security cooperation with Ukraine

As of last week, Takashi Kurai, the newly appointed Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine, while speaking within a meeting with Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ostap Semerak, said Japan is ready to remain a reliable partner of Ukraine within the issues related to environmental protection and environmental security, Ukrinform says referring to the Ukrainian Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources’ report.
As to the report, Takashi Kurai, the newly appointed Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine, said this during a meeting with ukr Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ostap Semerak, the press service of the Ministry for Environmental Protection said.
«Ambassador Takashi Kuray assured of Japan being ready to be the Ukrainian reliable partner as for the environment and preservation and environmental safety sternthening,» the report reads.
As to the report, within the meeting, Semerak admitted that the two countries worked together for a long time and exchanged experience within the environmental rehabilitation of the areas affected by man-made disasters at the nuclear power plants within Chernobyl and Fukushima.
«The transformation of the exclusion zone, the development of renewable energy in these territories and the introduction of the Shelter facility into operation are extremely important for us. These are significant results that Ukraine has been able to achieve within the sphere of the radiation safety,» Semerak stressed.
Besides, he also noted that Ukraine is interested within the Japanese experience of its national natural parks creating and waste processing management reforming.
