Oil World: Ukraine, Russia can sell 300-350 thousand tons of sunflower oil on global market

In July-September, sunflower oil will not lose its price attractiveness, especially because of a shortage of competing oils and fats in the market, and the worsening prospects for soybean production in the U.S.
According to expert estimates, Ukraine and Russia have at their disposal a total of 300–350 thousand tons of sunflower oil, which they can sell on the world market in July-September, thus putting a significant pressure on prices, according to Oil World (Germany). «The prices for sunflower oil in the current season are very attractive compared to those of other oils. Despite a significant increase in demand, sunflower oil is still cheaper than soy oil because of its large supply from key producers,» analysts say. According to them, information about good prospects for a new crop of sunflower also has a reducing influence on the prices. As a result, consumers do not feel the need to force the purchase of oil products on the world markets. Experts predict that the prices for vegetable products will remain low until the end of the 2011/12 marketing year, as well as in the new season, if weather does not deteriorate. A record volume of stocks at the beginning of 2012/13 MY will help increase the supply. The world production will reach a record level of the last season — 14.9 million tons. It is expected that at least until the beginning of 2013 sunflower oil will be actively offered in the markets of North Africa and Asia.
