Ukrainian delegation has taken part in the FAO Regional Conference in Baku

Chairman of the State veterinary and phytosanitary service of Ukraine Ivan Bisyuk participated in the 28th Regional Conference of FAO (the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) for Europe, which took place on April 1920 in Baku (Azerbaijan).
The conference was attended by representatives of 46 member countries and 10 organizations of civil direction.
During the opening a session of the FAO Director General Jose Graziano da Silva stressed the importance of the issue to combat hunger and accented on how FAO can achieve food security.
At the conference the problems of food and agriculture in Europe and Central Asia were discussed. Governments identified the following priorities for FAOs work for 20142015: increasing food security and food safety advice small farmers, natural resource management, control of animal diseases and plant pests; support to member countries who wish to join the European alliance research in food production.
Within the conference, a meeting of the Ministerial Roundtable on «The Politics of food security in the region: Challenges and Prospects food review to 2050». The Head of Ukrainian delegation Ivan Bisyuk made a report; he reported on the status and prospects of agro-Ukraine and outlined the main objectives of agricultural policy in the medium term, the states role in ensuring global food security and the increasing the representation of Ukraine in the FAO.
During the conference, the Ukrainian delegation met with FAO Director General Jose Graziano da Silva and held talks on bilateral cooperation with the delegations of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Belarus and Lithuania.
