19.08.2010 10:52 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Serbia will most likely export a record high 500,000 tonnes of wheat this year, despite the poor weather conditions this spring, agriculture minister Sasa Dragin stated. This years harvest is estimated at some 1.51.6 tonnes, while the domestic demands stands at 1.31.5 tonnes. Together with last years reserves, some 400,000 to 500, 000 tonnes of wheat may be available for exports, which would bring considerable revenues to the country amid rising what prices on international markets resulting from Russian wheat exports ban, Dragin said. Dragin recalled that Serbia last year exported agricultural products worth of USD 2mn and recorded USD 650mn surplus in agricultural products trade. Last month, Dragin said that Serbia could export 300,000 tonnes of wheat this year to support the agricultural sector.
