John Deere Power Systems Announces Generator Drive Power Ratings for Complete Lineup of Interim Tier 4 Engines

12.05.2010 15:35 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) is pleased to announce the generator drive power ratings for its entire lineup of Interim Tier 4 diesel engines. The new power ratings are the latest addition to John Deere’s already extensive lineup of standby and prime gen-set engines that meet emissions regulations around the world. For prime power applications, Interim Tier 4 emissions regulations begin January 1, 2011 for 130 kW (174 hp) and above engines and require a 90 percent reduction in diesel particulate matter (PM) and a 50 percent reduction in nitrogen oxide (NOx) from previous Tier 3 requirements. The new, more stringent emissions regulations represent both a challenge and, at the same time, an opportunity for the industry to contribute to protecting our environment. JDPS is pleased to offer a complete range of generator drive engines that meet emissions regulations while delivering quick-starting, clean-running and fuel-efficient performance. «We have built our gen-set engine lineup upon simple, fuel-efficient and field proven technologies that enable John Deere to help leading generator manufacturers meet increasingly stringent emissions regulations,» said Vincenzo Perrone, power generation business manager for JDPS. «Our lineup of John Deere Interim Tier 4 generator-drive engines also offers exceptional power density in a compact size, which provides customers with greater installation flexibility.» For engines 56 kW (75 hp) and above, John Deere will start with its proven PowerTech™ Plus Tier 3 engine platform, which includes cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) for NOx control, and add an exhaust filter for reducing PM. These engines will feature full-authority electronic controls, a four-valve cylinder head, a high-pressure fuel system, turbocharging and an air-to-air aftercooling system. Engines between 56 kW (75 hp) and 129 kW (173 hp) will be available in 4.5L and 6.8L displacements and will be equipped with either a wastegate or variable geometry turbocharger depending upon the size of the engine. Engines below 56 kW (75 hp), which include the John Deere PowerTech M 2.4L and 4.5L engines, meet Interim Tier 4 emissions regulations without the use of cooled EGR or an exhaust filter. These engines feature a 2-valve cylinder head, a fixed geometry turbocharger, mechanical unit pump fuel system (2.4L) and mechanical rotary fuel system (4.5L).
