According to the traders, grain export will be about 3 Mln.MT to Europe
In 2002/2003 marketing year the grain export volumes in european countries will be about 3 Mln.MT that is the level of 2001/2002 years. According to the opinion of exporters, intention of European Commission to establish a grain import quota of 2,981 Mln.MT since January 1, 2003 will not affect the volumes of sales in Europe within the marketing year, as the companies, expecting introduction of a quota, actively traded by grain during the first months of the marketing year (July - November 2002).
Some traders does not eliminate, that export to Europe in 2002/2003 year will be higher, than in 2001/2002, taking into account intensity of sales, poor harvest in the majority of the countries of Europe. The companies predict, that, since January 2003, the grain sale in Europe will decrease in the connection with the expected grain import quota, but it will not be stopped. Thus the experts consider, that the import grain quota can negatively affect the export volumes in the season of 2003/2004 years.
In July - October of this year the companies exported more than 6 Mln.MT of grain, about 50% of which were exported to the countries of Europe.
European Comission plans to establish quota for the import of wheat of middle and poor quality in the volume 2,981 Mln.MT with payment of the duty 12 EUR/MT since January 1 2003. Grain that will be imported outside of the quota is liable to the duty of 95 EUR/MT. The quota is not destined to the wheat of the premium quality.
