Yushchenko urges Ukrainian 2008/15 Grain Program to be adopted till 2008

As to President Decree ¹ 890/2007 (from Sept 18, 2007), President Viktor Yushchenko has commissioned Cabinet to elaborate/adopt National Program Ukrainian 2008/15 Grain within 3 months (with market participants to be attracted to Program elaboration).
President insists Program should determine conditions for annual minimal 50 mn MT grains production, for grains economic efficiency raising (incl. technologies for energy conservation), for importing into Ukraine of irrigation/other equipment as well as qualitative seeds, pesticides and other material/technical resources whose production is insufficient in Ukraine.
Besides, President has also commissioned Cabinet to create efficient grains/grains products quality control system.
As to Agro Perspective earlier report, Ukrainian 2008/15 Grain Program is now elaborated by Ministry of Agrarian Policy/Ukrainian Grain Association.
As to Agro Perspective, country agrarians had harvested (as of Sept 14) in total 23.742 mn MT grains/leguminous (maize excl).
Experts say Ukrainian 2007 grains crop is likely to decline to 28-30 mn MT, down against 2006.
2006 grains crop totaled 34.3 mn MT, down against 38.015 mn MT in 2005.
