Cabinet permitted to export 864,000 MT grains from ports elevators

15.02.2007 09:00 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — In order to discharge ports elevators, Cabinet has allowed to start 864,000 MT grains export unloading (incl. 606,000 MT barley, 30,000 MT maize and 228,000 MT wheat), reported Ministry of Agrarian Policy press-service referring to Cabinet Decree № 185 from Feb 13, 2007 «About Bringing Changes to Ukrainian Cabinet Decree № 1701 from Dec 8, 2006.»

As to press-service, Decree № 185 has come into effect since promulgation day.

Press-service says Ministry of Agrarian Policy experts think it possible, taking into account results of grains (kept on elevators/agricultural companies) Feb 1, 2007 declaration, to forecast 2007 first half Ukrainian domestic grains market demand satisfaction as well as country barley/maize export rates to be about 2006 first half. Due to this forecast, Ministry of Agrarian Policy now elaborates draft legal/normative act targeted at barley/maize export licensing regime abolishment.

As to Agro Perspective earlier report, Ministry of Economics finished distributing 600,000 MT barley/500,000 MT maize export quotas (to be efficient until 2006/07 MS end).

As to Agro Perspective, Ministry Commission decided to grant barley export right to 26 companies (maize — 38). Commission decided biggest barley lots should be exported by companies Serna (235,700 MT), Suntrade (70,097 MT), Kargil (59,944 MT) and Barzhova Kompaniya (63,853 MT); biggest maize lots should be shipped out by companies Nibulon (117,908 MT), Kargil (59,669 MT), Alfred Toepfer (49,286 MT), Kernel Trade (42,098 MT) and Raiz (34,483 MT).

Ukraine established 1.106 mn MT grains export quotas (incl. 3,000 MT wheat, 3,000 MT rye, 600,000 MT barley and 500,000 MT maize) until this MY end.
