Ukrainian bottled water market keeps up with European traditions

08.12.2006 15:18 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — Marianna Glotova (Holding GGMW/IDS Group Marketing Vice Director, IDS Group Directors Board member) has forecasted Ukrainian bottled water market non-aerated segment would boost by 17% in 2006 (16% — in 2007), reported Holding GGMW/IDS Group press-service.

As to Glotova, country bottled water market aerated segment growth rate will reach 14% within 2006/07, what proves of its advantageous prospects.

Glotova emphasized Ukrainian bottled water market presently follows European traditions; she said market is advancing highly dynamically and by now is far from total glut.

«Presently Ukrainian per capita aerated water annual consumption (31 liter) is over 1,5 times up against Russian (19 liter),» admitted Glotova.

«EU countries citizens prefer non-aerated water: aerated/non-aerated water consumption proportion is 1:2. Ukrainian consumption is characterized with quite contrary proportion: aerated water makes 83%, non-aerated water — 17% of total consumed water. And though Ukrainian non-aerated segment will raise its market share by 2–3 points, aerated waters will be still long predominant on our country market,» recapitulated Glotova.

It is to be admitted, Ukrainian 2006 per capita non-aerated water annual consumption has grown to 5,6 liter, up 14 times against 2000 (0,4 liter).
