Department of Agriculture attache in The Nur-Sultan (Astana) (Kazakhstan Republic of), on January 21 and April 16, respectively, the first and second stage of Kazakhstan’s 2020 meat quotas were announced by the Kazakhstani Ministry of Trade and Integration. Starting from January 1, 2010, tariff rate quotas (TRQs) were introduced for Belarus, Kazakhstan, and
Russia by Customs Union Commission Decision No 130 dated November 27, 2009. Since then, the
Customs Union Commission, and later the Eurasian Economic Union Commission, approved specific TRQ

of beef and poultry per specific importer, who is authorized to import the product under the preferential
customs rate of 25 percent, but not less than 0.2 EURO per kilogram. Any poultry imported outside of the quota is assessed a duty rate of 80 percent of the customs value, but not less than 0.7 euro per kilogram. Beef and poultry meat are still under TRQ regimes, whereas pork quotas were cancelled in 2016. In 2019, the TRQ for beef was filled at two percent and poultry at 93 percent.
