Ukraine returned to Turkey moth-contaminated tomatoes 15 tons

11.04.2019 17:44 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) As of this week, a tomato cargo from Turkey was detained within Khmelnytskiy region as the South American tomato moth was found within the cargo, Ukrinform says referring to the Ukrainian State Service for Foods Safety and Consumer Protection report. As to the report, the entire cargo has been thereupon returned to the exporting country. «As of Apr 2019, within Khmelnytskiy region, while carrying out the phytosanitary control at Khmelnytskiy- Central customs post, a quarantine organism, the Tuta absoluta Meyr., was found within the cargo of the fresh tomatoes weighing 14,950tons, arrived from Turkey. The contaminated cargo has been returned to the exporting countryr,» the report reads. As to the report, in order to prevent further similar cases, the Ukrainian Foods safety Service authorities have sent a notification on the non-compliance of the tomato cargo with the Ukrainian phytosanitary requirements.
