Foods/medicines mandatory Latin labeling postponed for two years

As of this week, the Ukrainian Ministry of Economic Development has postponed till 2021 the obligatory labeling with Latin alphabet letters of the domestically made foods/medicines products, Ukrinform says referring to the Ministry report.
«The Ministry of Economic Development has extended until Jan 1, 2021, the transitional period for the mandatory marking of products with letters of the Latin and Greek alphabets. The corresponding decree of the Ministry has already passed the State registration procedure at the Ministry of Justice and will come into force after its official announcement,» the report reads.
It is to be reminded, as of 2015, following the requirements of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, Ukraine adopted the Rules for the application of the measurement units. Due to the Rules, since Jan 1, 2016, all producers of consumer products which are sold on the Ukrainian domestic market are obliged to indicate, within their labeling, the measurements with the units of measurement adopted by the International System of SI Units (kilograms, centimeters, liters, etc.). Besides, the Rules stipulate that the measurement units are to be written both in Latin and Greek alphabets’ letters.
