Agrarian Ministry assures second grade raw milk purchasing won’t be prohibited
03.07.2018 23:07 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Until Jan 1, 2020, domestic raw milk processors will continue purchasing the second grade raw milk from the population individual economies to be processed into all products, Interfax-Ukraine says referring to Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Olena Kovaliova report.
As to Kovaliova, within Jan 1, 2020 - Jan 1, 2022, a transitional period will be established within which the processors will continue purchasing the second grade raw milk - but only for technical purposes (for the non-food products’ output, such as animal feeds or casein).
«Since this year Jul 1, nothing has changed, as earlier, second grade raw milk purchasing has not been canceled. The peasants and all those who produce raw milk can easily sell it to the processors until Jan 1, 2020. That is, due to the current legislation, raw milk of all grades, including the second grade, will be purchased and processed until 2020 by the domestic processors to produce food articles,» she stressed.
She also admitted that in order to improve the quality of domestic raw milk and establish uniform requirements (adapted to the EU demands) for safety, quality and hygiene of the raw milk, colostrums and dairy products’ output/sale, the Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food has worked out a draft Decree «On Approval of Safety Requirements for Raw Milk and Dairy Products Safety and Quality»
