Economic Development Ministry to raise domestic alcohol beverages minimum prices

As of this week, the Ukrainian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has proposed to boost domestic minimum wholesale/retail prices for vodka and liqueur-vodka beverages by 12.419.6%; whiskey, rum and gin - by 12%; cognac - by 6.69.5%; wine - by 4.513.5%, Interfax-Ukraine says referring to the Ministry draft Decree explanatory note.
«There has been a boost of prices of alcoholic beverages due to the their components (alcohol, packaging, etc.) prices’ growth. Thus, now the ready alcohol beverages minimum sale prices do not
correspond to the real expenditures of their producers for theses beverages output and sale. Thus, the minimum sale prices are to be adjusted,» the note says.
The note reminds that last time the domestic alcoholic beverages minimum prices were raised within last year Sept (in part., the minimum retail price for a half-liter vodka bottle was boosted from UAH69.78 to UAH79.55).
