EIB to provide Ukraine with EUR16.4 million for energy efficiency

As of yesterday, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environmental Partnership (E5P) have signed two agreements on allocating EUR16.4 million for Ukraine’s energy efficiency, Ukrinform reports.
As to the report, the agreements’ signing took place at the EU Office within Ukraine.
«Energy efficiency or „hidden fuel“ for Ukraine is another step towards energy independence. The agreements that we signed today are grants worth EUR 16.4 million,» E5P Manager Anders Lund said.
As to the earlier report, EIB Vice President Vazil Hudák notes that the first agreement worth EUR10 million concerns the Ukrainian education sphere.
«This assistance will be used to upgrade educational institutions and to modernize facades, ventilation, heating and lighting. It is important to note that this assistance is provided in the form of a grant worth EUR10 million,» he said.
As to the report, the second agreement concerns the heating system to be installed within the city of Kryvyi Rih (EUR 6.4 million).
