Poltava region agrarians harvested 0.264 mn MT grains

24.07.2006 14:11 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — As of Fri, Jul 21, Poltava region agrarians have got 263,800 MT early grains (average yielding capacity — 28,0 metric centners per ha), reported representative of regional Agriculture and Foods Main Department (Poltava Regional State Administration).

As to report, as of Fri, Jul 21, early grains have been mowed at 117,100 ha/threshed at 94,600 (of total planned 661,800 ha).

Presently Poltava region agrarians are harvesting also winter wheat/peas as well as spring barley, peas and rape.

As earlier reported, Poltava region agrarians had started early grains harvesting on Jul 6.

Poltava region agricultural crops sown areas total 1,333.600 ha.

Regional agrarians plan to produce in total 2.5 mn MT grain in 2006 (incl. 1.5 mn MT early grains); this year agrarians are going as well to get 1.75 mn MT sugar beet.

Poltava region 2005 grain crop totaled 2.9 mn MT; sugar beet crop amounted to 1.5 mn MT.

There are 25 districts in Poltava region.
