Poroshenko: Ukraine continues its transformation and looks for reliable and strong economic partners

17.10.2017 19:36 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — As of today, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and President of the Republic of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca took part within the Ukraine-Malta business forum that took place within the framework of the state visit of the President of Malta to our country, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports. As to the report, within the course of the forum, the Agreement between the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry of Malta on the establishment of the Ukraine-Malta Business Council was signed. The Agreement stipulates that the two chambers will provide information and advisory services for Ukrainian and Maltese entrepreneurs, distribute business proposals, exchange other informational materials and regulations governing foreign economic activities within our countries. The Agreement will facilitate broad engagement of small and medium-sized businesses within the bilateral cooperation, as well as the entry of Ukrainian companies into the EU markets. As to the report, Poroshenko has called the Ukraine-Malta cooperation within the field of IT, telecommunications and technological services (which already accounts for 75% of Ukrainian exports of services) very promising. As to him, the creation of a bilateral council on cooperation within the field of modern technologies and services will contribute to further deepening of trade and investment cooperation. «Ukraine continues its transformation and looks for reliable and strong economic partners,» the Head of State said and stressed that Ukraine appreciates the support of the Maltese side, especially within the presidency of Malta within the EU Council. In her turn, President of the Republic of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca emphasized the strategic geopolitical significance of Malta and Ukraine for their regions and the important role of her country not only as «a bridge to the African continent,» but also an important member of the Commonwealth of Nations, which includes 53 countries. Besides, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca stressed the importance of direct air connection between Malta and Ukraine starting on Mar next year (which had been agreed upon within the meeting between the two Presidents). «Malta can offer a lot to Ukraine - logistics centers, financial institutions, training centers, tourism, hospitality services, medical education and studying English as a foreign language,» the President of Malta said. At the same time, she emphasized that Malta is very interested in Ukrainian agrarian products, as well as IT services, which Ukraine is already actively exporting. As to the report, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca expressed confidence that the Ukrainian company «Antonov» will successfully develop its business within Malta to meet the needs of companies within Africa.
