As of today, while on a working visit to Ivano-Frankivsk region, and while speaking within the meeting on the improvement of the State policy within the sphere of forestry and hunting economy, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that Ukrainians need to unite their potential and set clear and right decisions to protect Ukrainian forests, and forests of the Carpathians, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, Poroshenko reminded that he had signed a law to boost criminal responsibility for the illegal logging. He emphasized that the law extended to professional foresters and «black» loggers.
As to the President, earlier leaders of the law enforcement bodies referred to the fact that they had no legitimate reasons to protect the Carpathians. «Today, the law gives them such weapons,» the President stressed.
The President also stressed the need for the introduction of an electronic control system for the wood turnover: «A single State accounting system for wood should cover all forest areas without exception. Each deck or a batch of wood should have a special tag».
