As of yesterday, a total of US$45 million was released by the UN Aid Chief Stephen OBrien from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to tackle neglected emergencies across four countries, UN Radio reports.
As to the report, OBrien said that more than 21 million people living within Afghanistan, the Central African Republic, Chad and Sudan, need urgent humanitarian assistance.
As to him, the allocation would help sustain and scale-up critical operations by humanitarian partners where life-saving needs are alarmingly high but funding is critically low.
It is to be admitted, a large portion of the funds will go to people affected by displacement and enable partners to provide critical healthcare; food assistance; and access to clean water and sanitation, said the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
