Ministry of Agrarian Policy forecasts 2006 sugar output 2-2.2 mn MT

As to Oleksandr Baranivskiy, Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy, press-conference report, Ministry of Agrarian Policy forecasts this year Ukrainian sugar output will hit 22.2 mn MT.
«That’s a record within entire period of Ukrainian independence,» declared Baranivskiy.
Acting Minister admitted this year sugar beet sown areas were up 20% against last year.
«We are provided with sugar of our own make until Oct, with no problems to be expected and with no necessity to use State sugar reserves,» emphasized Baranivskiy.
As earlier reported, Association Ukrtsukor forecasted this year sugar beet gross crop 2021 mn MT (sugar output 2.2.5 mn MT)
As to Ukrtsukor, sugar beet (2006 crop) had been sown at over 780,000 ha.
2005 sugar beet crop totaled 16.4 mn MT; 2005 sugar output equaled to 1.892 mn MT.
Experts estimate domestic sugar market annual capacity 1.82 mn MT.
