Cabinet has introduced milk minimal prices, reported Cabinet press-service referring to Government corresponding decision. As to press-service, highest grade milk minimal price has been set UAH1,250 per MT; 1 grade — UAH1,200 per MT; 2 grade — UAH1,000 per MT; cream 10% fat — UAH4,080 per MT. As to Ministry of Agrarian Policy preliminary calculation, 2006 minimal admissible prices (permitting compensation of milk/milk resources main expenditures) are to be not below UAH1,225 per MT. As to press-service, establishing of minimal admissible prices doesn’t stipulate compensation of milk/milk resources main expenditures at State Budget cost. As to report, minimal prices are established to assure strengthening of State control over milk, milk resources and milk products output/sale. As to press-service, minimal prices has been introduced in order to protect domestic agricultural producers, stop cows number shortening and solve problems arising due to dairy products export temporary restriction as well as owing to necessity of assuring corresponding conditions for milk/milk products output and sale as well as to guarantee milk/milk products quality and safety for population health/life. As earlier reported, end May Ministry of Agrarian Policy insisted on milk minimal purchase prices introduction. Ministry proposed to establish highest grade milk UAH1,250 per MT minimal price (1 grade — UAH1,200 per MT; 2 grade — UAH1,000 per MT; cream 10% fat — UAH4,080 per MT). In Feb milk minimal prices introduction initiative had been launched by Oleksandr Baranivskiy, Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy. Prime Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov had charged Ministry of Economics to examine expediency of milk minimal purchase prices establishing. Ministry of Economics had declared it considered minimal prices to be inefficient mechanism of Ukrainian dairy market situation (formed due to RF having imposed embargo on Ukrainian dairy/meat products import) stabilizing.
