Government begins restoring order at customs
14.06.2016 10:14 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of yesterday, the Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman signed a resolution on the establishing of 20 mobile groups to prevent and detect violations at the customs. The structure of the mobile groups will include representatives of the Ukrainian State Fiscal Service, the State Border Guard Service and the National Police. Their work coordination is assigned to the Inter-ministerial task center, which will work under the SFS, Government Portal reports.
As to the report, the mobile groups will get an easy access to all customs control areas and transport border crossing points, including airports and ports. In addition, all the work of these groups will be completely video and photo recorded in order to avoid abuse.
Reportedly, the resolution stipulates logistical support of the Inter-ministerial task center and mobile units, which will ensure proper efficiency of the groups and reduce the risk of corrupt influences. The activity of the groups will be financed through the reallocation of the budgetary funds for maintenance of the Ukrainian State Fiscal Service.
Besides, by a separate resolution, also signed yesterday, the Cabinet approved the procedure for photo and video fixation of customs formalities carried out by supervisory authorities. Mandatory video recording is one more way to prevent smuggling and abuse by controlling bodies at the customs.
