Poroshenko: We are grateful to European Commission for legislative initiatives on introduction of visa-free regime with EU for Ukrainians

As of today, within the meeting with President of the European Council Donald Tusk and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko discussed the course of reforms in Ukraine and the country’s readiness to visa liberalization with the EU, Government Portal reports.
As to the report, following the meeting, Poroshenko expressed gratitude to the European Commission for legislative initiatives on the introduction of the visa-free regime with the EU for Ukrainians.
Reportedly, he thanked the EU leaders for sincere negotiations and regular meetings that confirm intensity and dynamics of the Ukraine-EU relations.
As to the report, the Ukrainian President also informed on concrete results of anti-corruption and judiciary reforms - that is, adoption of important legislation on e-declarations, assets’ return, special confiscation and prevention of corruption. «It is important for the establishment of the visa-free regime,» Poroshenko said.
Reportedly, Poroshenko also drew attention to positive results of the DCFTA. Thus, in part., within Jan-Feb 2016, EU - Ukraine trade turnover in food products, means of production and equipment, vehicles and spare parts as well as consumer goods has boosted. «We are working over full implementation of the Association Agreement, IMF commitments and the Minsk agreements,» Poroshenko noted.
As to the report, the President informed on the agreement to conduct the Ukraine-EU Summit on this year May 19.
Reportedly, in his turn, the President of the European Council Donald Tusk emphasized that he understands the difficulties President Poroshenko and Ukraine face at the moment. «We see that Ukraine keeps walking the road of reforms. It has implemented a series of measures that lead to successful completion of reforms,» he said.
As to the report, the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker emphasized that the European Commission agrees with the necessity of improving traveling conditions for Ukrainians and is ready to provide proposals on visa liberalization within this year Apr.
