Ukrainian dairy market

Within reporting week Ukrainian dairy products producers have boosted some of their ready products domestic market wholesale and retail sale prices. Prices boost has been prompted mainly by domestic raw milk output gradual decline (caused by seasonality factor) and rather active export. Besides, prices boost has been also supported by fact of Ukrainian cows number continuous decline: thus, as of this year Jun 1 (as to Ukrainian State Statistics Committee data), Ukrainian cows number has declined to 2.274.7 mn heads (without territories of temporary occupied Crimea and ATO zone), down 6.5% against last year similar. However, at same time, within this week domestic market prices were pressed down, as earlier, by low demand.
Thus, within this week Ukrainian domestic market SMP prices were UAH39–42 per kg (up 0.62% against previous week/down 5.54% as of last month similar); export market SMP prices fluctuated within US$1,550–1,600 per MT (unchanged against previous week/up 2.11% as of last month similar).
Experts admit domestic market SMP prices boost is to be explained mainly with domestic cows herd yielding capacity gradual decline and cows number shortening. Besides, domestic market SMP prices have been also supported by export market SMP sale rates remaining rather high (even despite low export prices).
In meanwhile, this week Ukrainian home market WMP prices have escalated to UAH46,5–50 per kg (up 2.66% against previous week); external market WMP prices, however, remained US$2,100–2,250 per MT (unchanged as of last week).

This week Ukrainian domestic market block butter (72.5% fat, DSTU) prices have lifted to UAH43–46 per kg (up 8.54% against previous week/up 2.15% as of previous month similar); export market block butter (72.5% fat, DSTU) prices were US$2,350–2,600 per MT (unchanged against previous week/up 7.61% as of last month similar).
It is to be mentioned, within this week Ukrainian domestic market butter demand has started boosting (even despite domestic producers having slightly risen their sale prices).
This week Ukrainian domestic market cheese prices have escalated to UAH75–81 per kg (up 4.00% against previous week/up 5.76% as of last month similar); export market prices were US$3,200–4,000 per MT (unchanged as of last week/down 2.70% against previous month similar).
Within this week Ukrainian domestic market cheese demand remained slack; it is to be admitted, domestic market demand was stimulated by fact of domestic market prices having grown against export market.
At same time, within this week Ukrainian export market cheese demand has slackened against previous week due to EU countries tough competition.
As of this week, Ukrainian domestic market casein prices were UAH100–105 per kg (unchanged against previous week/down 9.29% as of last month similar); export market prices fluctuated within US$4,200–4,400 per MT (same as of last week/down 7.40% as of last month similar).
This week Ukrainian domestic market casein offer remained high due to seasonality factor.
In meanwhile, within this week Ukrainian export market casein demand was slack, as earlier.

This week Ukrainian domestic market demineralized whey prices were UAH10,70–11,50 per kg (unchanged against previous week/down 10.84% as of last month similar); export market prices have sagged to US$415–450 per MT (down 2.26% as of last week/down 9.31% as of previous month similar).
